Pepino’s alter-ego is Raoul Garcia Himenez, from a renowned circus family now in its 5th generation. As one of 18 children, it is little wonder that the family circus needed no outside help! Pepino’s father was a great clown in his own right but it was upon the flying trapeze that his son made his debut in the ring. Pepino modestly explains: “At just 9 years old I was the youngest circus artiste to perform a triple somersault on the flying trapeze – it is something which I am still very proud of to this day, along with the coveted Silver Clown we won at the prestigious Circus World Championships back in 1981.” Kind-hearted Pepino declares himself “the people’s clown” – a friend to young and old alike. As he welcomes audiences to the show before it begins he endears himself to the public, dispelling any myths that circus clowns can be scary and so much so that he is firmly their ‘champion’ in the ring thereafter. |
